Health benefits of wine has been a debate that has lasted the test of time, and this mostly concerns red wine because they have different processes, anti-oxidants, and ingredients. Red wine is made through a process of smashing and fermenting dark, whole grapes.  Depending on the wine, this process is universal. The alcohol content is usually between 12-15%, which is a much smaller amount than in liquor, but it is a little more than an average beer or seltzer. Red and white wine have been drank for thousands of years and we have continued to produce and perfect the wine making process. This has led to advancements in technology and wine-making tools to create better and more improved wine. Making wine purer and introducing antioxidants helps with gut health and more.

The benefits of drinking red wine around 3-7 glasses a week can deliver an antioxidant that is found in the skin of the grape called resveratrol. This antioxidant is insanely powerful at removing toxins from your body and supports gut health. This promotes help for hay fever, weight loss, and much more. This also helps to expand blood vessels and reducing blood clotting, this change in a diet can help reduce the risk of blood clot and potential cardiac arrest. Cardio vascular health can also be increased and you will notice it when you are working out or doing physical activity that elevates your heartrate. While wine is a great source of resveratrol and protecting your heart it can’t go without saying that it is much healthier to get your resveratrol from grapes themselves in order to mitigate the amount of alcohol consumed. No matter how much wine you drink the alcohol risks outweigh the nutritional benefits. Grape polyphenols may act almost like prebiotics which help protect and maintain a healthy gut microbiome. Another superpower of resveratrol is reducing blood pressure, and while some people enjoy alcohol regardless, drinking red wine would make your blood vessels much stronger. Resveratrol is a powerful tool and can be used from wine to benefit your life.

When drinking alcohol there is always a negative side effect whether it be on your liver, heart, kidneys, or any part of your body. Alcohol is essentially a poison that we can tolerate up to a certain point and is why when you have too much of it you don’t feel well. This can also be seen in moderate drinking of alcohol, but in a much slower rate than if you were to overdrink every day. Like before, drinking red wine can have an impact on your blood pressure, but this time if you overdrink, your blood pressure could skyrocket rather than plunge. Not only does your blood pressure fluctuate when you drink, but you also affect your liver when you drink over the recommended amount. The organ that is affected the most by any alcohol consumption is the liver, and when you continue to drink your liver gets damaged. Your liver will take longer and longer to flush out toxins which will make you feel worse and worse while you drink. Liver cirrhosis is a liver disease that can come from over drinking and should be taken very seriously because this disease is deadly if not treated. Taking care of what you put in your body is incredibly important.

Now alcohol does have negative impacts when used improperly and can have an amazing outcome if used in a proper and responsible way. Using the antioxidants and reduction in blood pressure to improve your physical activity and health by utilizing the boosts that you will see when drinking wine in a positive way. Drinking responsibly is the best way to ensure that wine benefits you and takes your life down the right path. Reap the benefits of red wine and pour a glass today.
